ADAC was the lead South Australian agency in the Launch of the National Youth Week at Victor Harbor with Australian Federal Police, Youth Beyond Blue, Australian Youth Forum, Headspace, Don’t turn a Night Out, into a Nightmare and the AERF This year National Youth Week was launched by the Federal Youth Minister, the Hon Kate Ellis, MP at Victor Harbor and Parramatta on the week beginning Saturday 10th April 2010. ADAC secured funding to enable a number of buses to transport youth from Adelaide to the event. About 1,000 people were in attendance with ADAC handing out 300 substance misuse resource packs.
This led ADAC to be invited to be the lead South Australian agency in the National Indigenous Youth Binge Drinking Campaign titled: ‘Your Life, Your Culture, You Choose! This event will be held on 24th June 2010 during Drug Action Week and ADAC are looking at between 600-1,000 youth attending.
Other events that we were involved in April included the National Drug Strategy Consultation Roundtable Adelaide. The workshop focused on Indigenous issues that enabled ADAC to have input into the direction of the National Drug Strategy for the 2010-2015 period.
OATSIH Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Performance Framework – 2010 Report Stakeholder Workshops. The Workshop was seeking the advice of key stakeholders on the policy and data directions for the 2010 Report.
